About the research group

The Stuttering Research Group, part of the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Ghent University, Belgium, is committed to high-quality research and education.

We teach stuttering and cluttering courses in the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences and support students in acquiring relevant research skills.

Our research

Research at the Stuttering Research Group aims to advance the understanding of factors contributing to childhood stuttering, speech disfluencies, and treatment efficacy, with the ultimate goal of enhancing the lives of people who stutter.

Our work focuses on elucidating cognitive and emotional processes through the application of diverse methodologies, including interviews, questionnaires, behavioral paradigms, and psychophysiological measurements.

Speech disfluencies and stuttering in culturally and linguistically diverse populations

Examining temperament, emotional reactivity, and regulation in stuttering development and persistence

The role of attention and executive functions in developmental stuttering

Word Stuttering and Cluttering Congress
